# Cursor

Connect Cursor to the Currents MCP server with an install link and a browser sign-in, for yourself or for everyone working in a repository

Cursor connects to the Currents MCP server at `https://mcp.currents.dev/mcp`. Add the server once and sign in, and the Cursor agent can read your runs and test results and act on them.

## Add the server

Open the [install link](https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=currents\&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL21jcC5jdXJyZW50cy5kZXYvbWNwIn0=) and confirm in Cursor.

To add it by hand, put this in `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project, or in `.cursor/mcp.json` at the repository root to share it with everyone who works in the repository:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "currents": {
      "url": "https://mcp.currents.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

The file holds no credential. Each person signs in as themselves.

## Sign in

Cursor signs in with OAuth. A browser window opens: sign in to Currents, choose the organization Cursor will work in, and approve the permissions it asks for. See [Sign in once](/ai/connect.md#sign-in-once) for what each screen shows.

## Check the connection

Ask the Cursor agent something only Currents can answer:

> Which tests in `<project>` were flakiest on main this week, and why?

If the Currents tools do not show up, open the Output panel and select MCP Logs. The logs show the server start, the tool calls and the errors.

Cursor asks before it uses an MCP tool. Keep it that way for write tools: `currents-delete-run` deletes a run permanently. See the [Cursor MCP documentation](https://cursor.com/docs/context/mcp).

## Skills

Cursor reads skills from `.agents/skills`, where `npx currents skill --install` saves the [Currents CLI skill](/ai/agent-skills/agent-skill-currents-cli.md). See [Agent skills](/ai/agent-skills.md) for the other Currents skills.

For an API key instead of a sign-in, and for errors, see [Connect any MCP client](/ai/connect/remote.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.currents.dev/ai/connect/cursor.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
